What Emma Saw - an art post

A couple weeks ago, I took the girls out back with clipboards, pencils and fancy watercolor paper. I told them to look around and then draw what they see. It took until today for the painting to happen, afterwhich, I outlined the pencil with black sharpie. This is what Emma saw. These are all things that surround the big Maple tree next to the swingset. It's impressive that she looked beyond the tree (it's no where to be found in her drawing) and find the bird feeders, the foxgloves and the ferns. This was our first time painting with liquid watercolor paints (they come in a tube!) and it was really fun and messy. This would be a good assignment again - maybe at the park or the beach.
